Victorinox Award
Thanks to the generosity of
A Company, A Brand, A Family
Quality, functionality, innovation and iconic design are the brand values that have successfully led the Victorinox brand for 126 years and are the qualities upon which all Family Project entries were judged. The Elsener family was motivated to create this project for many reasons, but mostly due to the Victorinox brand's long-standing history of environmental and social responsibility and family based dreams and helping to make them come true.
It is this family history and sense of continuity based on family values which ensure the Victorinox brand progresses not only as a product manufacturer and designer, but as a global employer committed to exceptional corporate responsibility.
The Family Album
In 2010, we searched the UK for families of every kind and hue! We looked for those who were brave, bold, intrepid and true. For families who dreamt of sharing an adventure together, and have grand ideas on how to make our world better.
Sabine Fouchier is one of the lucky winning families of Victorinox Family Project Award !
With her daughter and partner , Sabine plans to run a summer & winter programme, where families of all ages can come to remake and reuse their items, by transforming them into jewellery, hats and more. Sabine plans to get local businesses to donate their rubbish and families will be encouraged to bring their own waste. "My hope is that the project will bring people together, so that we are not just people that live nearby, but that there's a real sense of a community working together. I'd like to train people in craft fields so that they learn skills that they can carry on and really think about our impact on the environment," says Sabine. She plans to run the workshops and to have a collective exhibition of the artworks at the end of the project in her local community !
"As we experience every day at Victorinox, living in tandem with all the generations encourages traditional values in order to meet innovation requirements and experience to match spontaneity, which leads to new insights and understanding. And thus giving rise to discussions, conversations, dreams - and IDEAS," said Victorinox AG President, Carl Elsener.
"We want to recognize, applaud, and support these ever-evolving ideas that ultimately build and shape the communities around us in a positive way.
For milliner Sabine Fouchier, designing and recycling are her favourite activities, so it made sense for her project planning craft workshops which teach families how to create works of art from their non-recyclable items. Victorinox is committed to sustainability, so was impressed by the idea of reducing waste in a fun, family-friendly way.
